ADU Before & After in Fresno, CA
You can read about garage conversions and backyard ADUs all day. Seeing an actual Fresno lot go from underused space to rent-ready or in-law-ready housing is different. The photos below show the arc of the work: what homeowners started with, what our crews did about it, and what the finished project looks like from the curb, the alley, or the kitchen window. Every one of these represents a written price agreed to before the first tool came off the truck.
Recent Transformations
Detached Garage to Two-Bedroom ADU, Tower District

The garage had good bones but a roofline that had been patched so many times it looked quilted. We reframed the roof, replaced the slab edge where tree roots had cracked it, and converted the overhead door opening into a window wall. The result rents for $1,450 a month now, which is about what you’d expect for a two-bedroom in that part of central Fresno.
JADU Conversion Inside an Existing Home, Woodward Park

A JADU is a junior ADU, and the key difference is that it lives inside the footprint of the main house rather than as a separate structure. This homeowner had a bonus room accumulating boxes and a grown child moving back after grad school. We added a kitchenette along the short wall, framed in a bathroom, and cut a private entrance off the side yard. The homeowner gained rental income without losing any yard space.
Backyard ADU From a Prefab Kit, Sunnyside

Some Fresno homeowners want construction speed, and for them we match the lot to a prefab brand like Abodu, Cover, or Dvele instead of a stick-built frame. This Sunnyside lot had an unusually wide side yard that sat empty for a decade. The kit went up fast, and our crews handled the site work, foundation, utility connections, and finish carpentry. The homeowner was collecting rent before the end of the same season.
Pool House Conversion to Full ADU, Fig Garden

A lot of older Fig Garden homes came with pool cabanas that were built for parties, not living. This one had a bathroom and a wet bar but no cooking setup and no heat. We ran gas, installed a compact kitchen, added a mini-split for the Fresno summers, and converted the wet bar plumbing into a laundry closet. Now it works as a guest house for aging parents instead of a storage room for pool floats.
Single-Car Garage Conversion With Alley Access, McLane

Garage conversions in Fresno come down to ceiling height, foundation condition, and access. This McLane garage had clear alley access, which meant we could create a private entrance without disrupting the main house. We insulated the walls, added a kitchenette and full bath, and replaced the garage door with a proper entry door and windows. The owner now rents it to a Fresno State grad student who has a ten-minute bike ride to campus.
